Terms of Service
Last updated: 2025-10-25
1. What we do
SportDB.dev provides a RESTful API that delivers sports data (e.g., countries, competitions, teams, players, standings, fixtures, match details). The service is intended for development and analytical use.
2. Accounts and API keys
- You must create an account to obtain an API key. Keep your key secret and do not share it publicly (including client-side code repositories).
- You are responsible for all activity performed using your API keys.
- We offer a free tier for testing (e.g., 100 free requests). Production usage requires a paid plan.
3. Fair use, limits, and plans
- Plans include monthly request quotas and request-per-second (RPS) limits. Exceeding included usage may incur overage fees as described on the billing page.
- Example inclusions (subject to change): Starter (~50k/mo), Growth (~1M/mo), Scale (~5M/mo). Exact limits and pricing are shown in the dashboard/checkout flow.
- We may throttle or reject requests that exceed plan limits or threaten service stability.
4. Acceptable use
- No abuse of the service or infrastructure (e.g., denial-of-service, credential stuffing, bypassing authentication or rate limits).
- No reselling or sublicensing of our API without prior written permission.
- No use that violates applicable laws, third-party terms, or intellectual property rights.
5. Billing and subscriptions
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full payment card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Overage charges may apply when enabled or when included units are exceeded. Taxes may be added where required.
- Fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
6. Service changes and availability
- We may modify endpoints, schemas, or limits. We aim to provide reasonable notice for breaking changes.
- Service is provided on a best-effort basis without uptime guarantees. Maintenance windows or network/infrastructure outages may affect availability.
7. Data and intellectual property
- All software, documentation, and service content are owned by us or our licensors. No rights are granted except as expressly provided for using the API.
- You are responsible for ensuring that your downstream use of data complies with applicable third-party terms.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access immediately for violations of these Terms, security concerns, non-payment, or to comply with law. You may stop using the service at any time; account closure and data deletion are available upon request.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS IN ANY 3-MONTH PERIOD WILL NOT EXCEED THE FEES PAID BY YOU TO US FOR THAT PERIOD.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction of our principal place of business, without regard to conflict of law principles. Venue and jurisdiction shall lie in the competent courts of that location.
